At Local Roots December 12-17

Christmas is coming, and this Saturday brings another holiday Artisan Day to Local Roots! Come to the market to find a beautiful and practical selection of locally-crafted gifts from jewelry and clothing to wooden bowls, pottery mugs and dishes, and much, MUCH more!

In addition, Marilou Suszko, author of the new cookbook The Locavore's Kitchen, will be on hand to sign books. Her new book is my new go-to cookbook for seasonal produce ideas -- it is great!

Here's what you'll find on my shelves at Local Roots Market this week:

--Apple strudel bread
--Artisan wheat bread
--Baklava
--Cheese crackers (cheddar and pepper jack)
--Cheese-herb artisan bread: chèvre-rosemary, gouda-sage, Ludlow-basil
--Cinnamon-pecan bread
--Cinnamon pita chips
--Cornmeal bread
--Garlic-herb bread
--Garlic pesto flatbread
--Garlic pita chips
--Honey spelt oat bread
--Limpa rye bread
--Maple oatmeal bread
--Pain aux noix
--Pizza crusts
--Pumpernickel bread
--Rosemary cider bread
--Sandwich buns
--Savory apple flatbread
--Sesame thins
--Spelt bread
--Sunshine cookies
--Tea rings and pecan rings
--Whole wheat pita
--Whole wheat sandwich bread
--Zaatar flatbread

In the bakery case, you'll find:

--Baklava
--Sunshine cookies
--Swiss cheese rolls with Heritage Grass Farms Swiss chunks

On Saturday, I'll also have fresh almond croissants and chocolate croissants on hand for the Artisan crowd. If you missed them at the last Artisan Day, don't miss them this weekend!

In addition, I have two more baking classes scheduled at Today's Kitchen Store:

--Saturday, January 7: Need to Knead? comparing regular bread dough with the no-knead method
--Saturday, January 14: Wheat or Spelt -- simple bread, pizza, and cracker recipes using these two related grains

Both classes are hands-on, so there will be limited seating. If you're interested, stop in at TKS or contact them through their web site!

Happy Holidays!
