At Local Roots September 19-24

Fall will be here later this week, and this cool rainy start to the week surely heralds the change in season. It makes turning the oven on in the morning a comfort rather than a chore!

Here's what you'll find on my shelves at Local Roots Market this week:

--Artisan wheat bread
--Basil pesto flatbread
--Cheese crackers (cheddar and pepper jack)
--Cheese-herb artisan bread: cheddar-basil, cheddar-dill, chèvre-rosemary, gouda-sage, Miami-parsley
--Cinnamon-pecan bread
--Garlic-herb bread
--Garlic pesto flatbread
--Honey spelt oat bread
--Jalapeno-cheddar bread
--Light rye bread
--Maple oatmeal bread
--Pain aux noix
--Pizza crusts
--Sandwich buns
--Savory apple flatbread
--Sesame thins
--Spelt bread
--Tea rings and pecan rings
--Whole wheat pita
--Whole wheat sandwich bread
--Zaatar flatbread

In the bakery case, you'll find three treats, starting Tuesday:

--Veg rolls are back! This week it's time for tomatillo salsa rolls, with Martha's Farm tomatillos, homegrown tomatoes, Adonai Acres onions, Crooked Barn Farm jalapenos, and Sunsations sunflower oil. Non-dairy.

--The cheese rolls for the week will have a melty core of Heritage Grass Farm Swiss cheese -- just the perfect side for a bowl of soup from the Local Roots Cafe!

--On the sweet side, you'll find a Garden of Eden apple tart with a whole wheat crust, Moreland Fruit Farm apples, a syrup of local honey mixed with pomegranate molasses, and a touch of homegrown rose petals. Temptation never looked so sweet!

And if you find the tart to be absolute Paradise, come to my "An Apple a Day" cooking class at Today's Kitchen Store on Saturday and learn how to make it!
